Default Deuce belt adjustment

working on an 04 deuce and need the specs. for the belt adjustment, anyone have an owners manual.

I have one for the 2000 deuce. I will look it up after work.

Edit: checked the clymer and didn't find anything.

Use the 45* meathod. Tension should be such that you can rotate the belt 45*, maybe a bit more, with your thumb and forefinger. If you can't, belt is too tight.

I believe the SM says 3/8"-5/8" deflection with 10# of tension on the belt; not absolutely sure though.

Service manual in hand. Says 1/4 to 5/16 deflection, top run of belt, under 10 pounds of upward pressure.

I have the little tool that supplies the pressure so you can get this just exactly perfect. Never used it. I use the twist 45 degrees method.

Do you adjusted the belt at 45 degree with the rear tire off the ground, on the ground or with someone sitting on the bike?

I do on the ground, no one on bike. Dunno if that's right but that's how I do it.
