I went with the pegs they sell at HD. Short Angled Adjustable Highway Peg Mount Kit-50830-07A, and Crested Bar & Shield Footpeg Kit-50576-05. The parts guy at the counter said they wouldn't work, but it fit like a charm.
This is what I'm running on mine. Classic look, and with the heel rests I have quite a few options...lots of the time I just have my heels on the floor boards and the toes on the heel rest, but then when I want to stretch out feet go up on the highway pegs and heels on the heel rests or heel rest arms.
I tried some of the shorter highway peg brackets...but found these much more versatile/comfortable for the Softail.
