Default Slim/FLS "Touring Package"

So the cage decided to die on me this week and thusly I am now soley on my Slim...Bowman sissy bar is coming Wednesday, and to install it I will need to take the fender off and unbolt my Leatherworks saddlebags. As such, I thought it would be a good opportunity to try out my "touring package"...

When I purchased my bike, I had some money to spend; being new there was a ton of crap I didnt know...like options like saddlebags and the like were, um, SLIM pickings. Hadnt found the great resources I have now. So as such, I didnt want to alter my Slim in terms of looks. To put on the detachable bags and what not, you had to relocate the tail lights and plate...I didnt want to do that.

So I decided to build out a "touring package" fender. I found the major parts I needed on the Devil (aka eBay)- fender, fender struts, saddlebags- and the rest (hardware) I got at my dealer (new bike owner = 10% discount + rewards points on purchases). The saddlebags are the $900 ones I got used for $450...pretty much stole em (they need some TLC, but they are good shape) at that price.

So I got the fender built out, lights work, hardware mounted. So today I put em on Blanche (my Slim) until I get my Bowman mounted next week. Here are some pix:

Fender off:

And now with Auto Gems/LEDs:

I must say that comparing my Leatherworks saddlebags to the H-D ones- sure glad I didnt pay full price for them new!! Workmanship is less than quality. Shame on H-D for a substandard product. I am going to post up on their site a review...will see if they will allow it to post. I have been happy with pretty much all fo their swag, but those saddlebags are not comparable to Leatherworks, I can say that much.

Great set up!!

Question, how tall are you and do you like/use the mustache bar for a foot position during rides?

Cheers!

Thanks everyone! I am still partial to my other fender assembly as it has the side plate mount and the stock wing-tail lights...its just off to the side until I get my Bowman sissy bar mounted.

A LOT more room in the saddlebags, but those are much lower quality than the LeatherWorksInc bags.
