Found it!!
Having fixed a bare wire in the right control before, as I said, I have taken it apart and retaped it carefully a second time anyway, just to be through.
When I reassembled it, I gently rolled the upper/lower halves of the right control, just so it would not pinch any wires.
Well, it did anyway.
I hate how these handlebars fit to the controls anyway. The hole for internal wiring is too far inboard, and this is the second time in the 2 months I have owned this bike, I have had a problem there.
I just posted an inquiry about a rake kit, and I am sure I want to change handle bars. I like the internal wiring. I will go for handlebars with comfort in mind, and expect another manufacturer will not have fitment issues on the bar. Flanders seems to make about everything, and I can go black at the same time. When I do that, I am putting in a fresh harness from the frame plug to the controls.
I get the headlight back from the powder coater this week, and for now, I will be back riding again, yea!!

Thanks for posting that your problem was fixed and what fixed it.

I know these kind of problems are a real pain in the ***, but I imagine you did learn a few things while troubleshooting the problem, so perhaps it wasn't a total waste of time.

Thanks,
Yes, I learned a LOT about the electrical on a soft tail. And, not to be too cocky. I did not go back into the right control because I had done such a nice tape up, and on reassembly, I was careful not to pinch the wires, by rolling the assembly as it went together.
Years ago, I had a Challenger that had the brake lights go out on. I worked on the harness for a week. I even removed it, looking for the short. Discounted the bulb right off, because both sides went out at the same time.
One day, I looked, and both bulbs were blown. Replaced the bulbs, and everything was fine.
So, lesson relearned years later.
Thanks for the input ideas guys. I learned even more with some outside thoughts.

While I have used internal wiring in the past, I too have issues with the fit and problems it's prone to. I eventually removed the internal wiring. It doesn't look quite as clean, but if there is a problem, I can troubleshoot it on the side of the road. Maybe I'm a bit OCD about it, but I'm an electrical engineer and I've just seen too many issues. There isn't much I cant fix if I can get to it.
