Curious why you didn't get a touring bike to start?
I just did this, but with a plain inner fairing (no sounds) and my ans is very simple after a couple touring bikes.
I love the ride, down in the motorcycle instead of being on top of it! However, I missed the Bat. Besides I've always said the Heritage is the ticket. My New Springer in 1989 I made into an early Springer Heritage, big rear fender, diff front fender, 6 gal tanks, heritage seats, heritage sissy, apes, tombstone, narrow 21" and all.
Rode it for many miles and always missed the ride, but don't remember anybody with batwings on ST's then.
