I have a 14 Heritage did a 500 mile ride Sat I have 2nd degree burns on the back of my upper leg. Its always been really hot but this is not working for me. Has anyone else had this problem? Love my bike and have put over 8000 miles on it since Nov. like I said its always been really hot on the right side(bought heat shields made it worse) but not like this ride. It was in the 90s does this mean I can only enjoy riding in cool weather. Instead of putting it up in winter I have to store it in the summer.Im not a happy biker girl right now.
What kind of heat shield did you get? Many here have lots of good to say about the leather by Captain Itch. Also, if you don't have an oil cooler, I would recommend having one installed. I assume you are already wearing jeans of something else of this same material weight when riding.
Actually, the cats are in the stock mufflers. Replace those with a slip-on muffler and get some sort of fuel management. It will make a night and day difference! Ask me how I know.
Had the same problem with my 13 Heritage. I bought a leather heat shield (see picture) and is no longer a problem. Your inner thigh is unprotected inches from the head. Yeah, it get hot. Just Google Harley heat shield.
Kurakyn has some nice heat shields for around $70. They are smoked tinted and have a reflective finish so they are not notice able. I have them on my ride and work great.

You must either have the wrong heat shields or they were installed wrong. You also might get better riding pants (leather, kevlar)...... A girl with hot thighs, I like!
I have Captain Itch crotch coolers on both my Softails, after burning my right thigh in Daytona in stop and go traffic on Main St, I learned my lesson. They take away about 80% of the heat and I live in S Florida so you can't really get much hotter, and we have a lot of traffic.
