Maybe the seat will lighten q bit after a few miles are put on it and the stain/oil rubs off onto your pants.

Yes and so far all they are saying is they used the same leather and the same stain and that they cant always match it perfectly. I said that I didnt expect it to be perfect but that this iwnt even close.

You paid good money for a product that they said would match, and they failed to deliver. I may have missed this in your post, but did you send them pictures that show the big difference?

I sent them pics and they stand by the fact that they matched it "the best they can". They are doing nothing for me at this point other than offering to make another bag if I pay another 300 bucks.

The seat was made roughly 2 months before the bag but was put on the bike only about 2 weeks before the bag. I swt on the seat for a 5 mile ride before putting the bag on. It never matched because the color of the seat hasnt changed at all.

I also offered to send the bag back and for them to simply darken it but they said they could not do that.

Not even close imho! In fact, it doesn't look right Dude but again, that's just mho! I'm not trashing your bike, I'm not into that but you asked and that's how I see it. It just doesn't look right. 1 thing, it is like you have 3 colors going on, the paint, seat and now the swing arm bag. I wouldn't be happy at all.

I'd be as unhappy as you. Given there isn't much of an age difference between the two items I'm amazed that the company can't get a closer match.

This is exactly how I feel about it.

I think they didn't make much of an effort to match it as best they could and now that they can clearly see that it doesn't match, they don't seem to want to make it right. They aren't blind - they see that it doesn't match because they have the same pics that I posted here.

I understand that the color is a preference thing - not everyone likes the deep red but I do. I do think the seat matches well with the paint but, again, that is personal preference. I did it that way because all black is all too common and the little bit of color from the tank contrasts well with the brass. If the bag matched, it would be perfect as far as I am concerned.

And for the record, I do like the bag - it just doesn't match. All they would have to do is redo the bag to match, and I firmly believe they can, and I would be raving about them.

Does anyone know if it is possible to simply make this bag black on my own? If I could make it black at least it would disappear and not be noticed because the rest of the bike is black. It might also help down the road because I have a feeling that the lighter colors would not weather as well as black would.
