I suggest you take a dyna for a test ride. Maybe a softail.

I found my old 70 Electra Glide. I sold it over 20 years ago to this guy and now it sits in this garage with **** piled all over it. That's my 2nd bike.

If you want to look as good as possible then get a Night Train - plain & simple

Man, thanks to everyone for the replies, good info...

mkenkel - the Street Bob is what got me looking in the first place, saw a new one at the dealer in SC and liked the configuration on it. But with HD, you never run out of options, do ya?

Atlantaallen - been looking that way on Cycletrader, some great options.

Jaburg1/funbikerchick - long story, but actually my wife is changing jobs and I'm not, so we'll be maintaining two households for a while. I managed to convince her that to help offset the distance, I'd need a bike at both places until we get back to one house. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

HD and Vette - I'd like to keep it mid teens or less if possible, I actually prefer a lightly used one, they usually have the basic mods I'd do to one right off anyhow. But I did show my wife the new CVO Breakout online and she didn't shoot me...now if I could just find that winning Powerball ticket...

Msmall - what is it about the Softail you like over the Dyna?

Midgard - love the Night Trains, but my cousin has one and if I got one after he did, I'd never hear the end of it! LOL!!

Thanks again, everyone.

Hmm. To me there's three basic options. Dresser which you've already got, race bike if wanna carve corners and track, and basic minimalistic bike for just riding.

My personally default is minimalistic. I like basic bike stock which I can then take whatever direction I want. Best of both worlds IMO. Duffel/sissy bag, saddles when I need them.

So softail or basic dyna. I prefer softail with balanced engine/drive. To me it looks the way a cruiser is supposed to look and sounds and feels right without the punishment of a true hardtail.

A lot is cosmetic, I like the rigid frame look.

The real design differences....The way your seated. You sit on a dyna, you sit in a softail. Also, the balanced motor on the softial is much better when sitting at a light. No vibration with the softail, tons with the dyna
