I won't ride without a windshield. Why should I? When I was younger my bikes didn't have windshields because I didn't know any different. Then I bought a used bike that did have a windshield. I have never gone back! I find it so much more comfortable with than without.
Used to. Then went to shield in winter only. Then the shield never came off. Then I tried fangs, and their on in the winter. Now Im thinkin fairing and fangs! lol Whatever works for "you".
I understand the benefits of having a windshield or what ever a person wants to call it but I choose to ride without one because I like the feel of the wind. I also have a 3/4 helmet with pull down visor that protects my face and eyes, so I am happy with that.
I have been wondering the same. The bike Im looking at has one ( used 03 deuce). I do recall while riding dirt bikes ( yes but bear with me) in open fields around here that a junebug, in the forehead doesn't end well. You can get hauling in the fields - so how much more on the open road eh?
so then its a safety thing? Or just a false security?
I've never ridden a motorcycle with a shield (except my race bike) and I doubt I ever will unless my girl wants a dresser for long hauls, but I figure thats what cars are for. For me there's nothing like experiencing every aspect of the elements around me. Above 80MPH I feel like I'm in a fist fight but I kind of dig that too.
I recently bought a used windshield for the mounting hardware to put on my Klock Werks windshield.
I decided to ride my Heritage the 15 miles (10 highway) to where the shield was located.
I rode without a windshield so that I could have a way to get the new one back.
It was probably the worst 15 miles I've ridden in years.
I have no idea why anyone would ride over 30 mph without a windshield.
It just isn't pleasant.
Oh yea, I consider wearing a full faced helmet as one riding with a windshield.
