Can anyone reccomend a detachable backrest for the passenger? I have a backrest already, but it's a pain to take off/put on. I prefer the bike look without the backrest, but the wife likes the comfort of it. I've got an 04 Fatboy FLSTFI. Thanks!
If you are using a stock back rest, isn't there detachable sideplates that'll work? Won't assume cuz a Fatboy doesn't have an OEM backrest, right?
Maybe these? Detachable Sideplates Part Number 53810-00B (Answered my own question.)
I have replaced the sideplates on my Heritage and it takes 2 min to pull the rack off the shelf and clip it on. I've also added detach mounts for the bags. Mine has a rack attached to the back rest. I don't know if that changes things.
It takes longer to pull the fender bib than it does to put on/remove the backrest.
I also added a detachable leather TourPak to my accessory pile and it goes on and off almost as easy as the backrest.
Mine came with the Rider's essentials kit which includes the detach back rest. I switched to the smaller back pad for less of a lollypOp look. This is for the Deluxe but I'm sure the setup works for the Fatboy as well.
