I was cruising the net and came across this article on fat daddy wheels. I have had mine for two riding seasons now going into the third and I believe I was one of the first on the forum to have them, I could not be any happier. Any one who sees them has something nice to say Drag specialties is a distributor. I have always wonder who made them a lot of people mostly dealers were saying it was American wire wheel definitely not I spoke with the folks at American a few weeks ago when I had questions about the matching rotors and belt pulley. They told me they made a 40 spoke wheel but not the fifty as the fat daddy is. any way this is a nice article about them and the construction. i have added a few paragraphs from the article but if you want to see the great work that goes into putting these wheels together.
For all those who feel bigger is better, one of the hottest wheels Ride Wright offers is its 50-spoke Fat Daddy wheel. The wheels are highlighted by solid stainless-steel 3/8-inch spokes. Aside from the fat spokes, the way the wheels are laced gets a lot of attention as well. The spokes run straight out from the hub to the rim in a radial-lace fashion, as opposed to the more traditional cross-lace pattern in which the spoke exits the hub at an angle crossing over several other spokes.
While cross-lacing makes for a very strong and dependable wheel, Sam's Fat Daddy wheels were developed and dyno-tested to be just as tough and reliable. In fact, the wheels are so tough, they've stood up to the abuse of AHDRA drag racer Valerie Thompson hammering the throttle on her daily rider, a 107ci '00 Fat Boy with 18-inch Fat Daddys. I bought my fat daddys from mark at M&M cycle in ohio my dealer wanted about $400 more for the same wheels. Mark is a good guy I live in connecticut and can always save money buying from him especially on the more expensive items even with the shipping charge you always save.
