Quick question...anyone ever use Magnum Shielding BYO brake line for an ABS upper on a bar swap? Is this even possible? Their lower is pricey, and its required if you use their upper. This is my first sled with ABS and it has put a kink in my bar swap budget.
Magnum Shielding makes a great product and their CS is top notch. It's worth the money to buy the best.
Agreed. I intend to use Magnum Shielding cables. Just trying to save the $190 for the lower that is required when you buy the upper ABS line. That money would buy new grips. Wondering if the Magnum Build Your Own brake line can be used as an ABS upper. I found a direct replacement upper in PVC coated braided stainless from Goodridge that does not require purchase of a new lower, can get in + sizes. Just concerned that it would not match the Magnum cables.......
When I did mine I just bought one of their universal lines in the right length and added the proper banjo fittings. I did not change the lower brake line left it stock. After the install I had the dealer do the ABS reset and there have been no issues.

Did not even see the universal option, will measure and order soon as bars arrive. Thanks Chief.
If you want to spend $200 plus order their upper and lower ABS lines. But it is not necessary to do so. Just get the $45 universal brake line in your color choice and a 35 deg banjo fitting on the top side and a 180 deg straight fitting on the bottom side. Fittings are about 6-8 buck each. Several of us here on the forum have been doing this since ABS came as an option on Softails. It is safe, it works and it saves spending money that you need to spend. And again the dealer has had no problem resetting the ABS with the digital tech.
I have read that a few have been able to get a good vacuum bleed and have not needed to get the ABS reset. Unfortunately my bike sat for a month or two with the line off and it did not work for me. Worst case for me was $45 to have the dealer do it.
