Default Leather Bag Support

The sides of my leather bags are in great shape because some thin pieces of wood were added but I need some ideas on the top piece to give it a flat or slightly rounded look. Has anyone added some kind of home-made support pieces to their leather bags that I can see a photo of or bought something? I have a Heritage Soft Tail Classic. If I have this posted in the wrong place let me know. Thanks for any help you can give.
