I'm sure the Heritage ones will work on a Deluxe.
The forks themselves must be the same.
Maybe the turnsignals being different?
They do make a HUGE difference.
I rode to Hollister & back (150 mi Rd trip)
w/o em. Never again.
Theyr'e going right back on before the next
long ride.
Is updraft caused by windshields really that bad for you guys? When I started running a shield (first a lower profile model and then a king size) I did notice that I got some updraft but it was never so bad that it made riding uncomfortable. About the worst consequence from it was that after a while riding, my beard would have this funky, up-swept comb job. If my beard was long enough the ends of it would blow into my mouth. Hardly any reason for me to start spending more money and slapping even more unsightly, drag producing plasitcs on my ride! I wear a half helmet so not sure how much if any difference that makes.
Anyway. I'm not really trying to down on you guys or anything. I guess I'm just really surprised at how much of an issue this effect seems to be to others.
Since I put the fairing on it was amplified quite a bit so I built my own out of aluminum sheet and flat bar. I don't like the look of fangs and those stupid looking wings they make that attach to the bottom of the fairing look as frightening as a wedding ring on my sister.
If you're getting wind that comes up *under* your windshield, up your legs and your chin that way, you might want to check out the Desert Dawgs. They slip on over the crash bar and break down a good part of those updrafts (not to mention the added benefit of keeping your legs and feet dry when you run into rain) - they're only $109 bucks (starting) and are easy on/easy off, you can keep 'em in your saddlebags when not using. (Made in the USA too) http://www.leadermotorcycle.com/dese...s-rain-guards/
I never noticed before I wore prescription sunglasses.
The problem with the Heritage (00 & newer) is the windshield
is not adjustable. It tilts forward just a little - Enough to cause
that up-draft. I can't hang with the presc/glasses dancing on
my nose. I've ridden a couple Roadkings now (A+!!) and their
windshields are angled back. They have little or no buffeting.
Also, the 2014 Deluxe I demo'd had that slightly different shield
It was angled back, so no buffeting.

Not really.

this is an interesting thread to me. Just upgraded from an '02 1200C (no windshield) to an '08 Deluxe with a shield (not sure of exact size, think it's the same as comes on a stock Heritage) 6 weeks ago. About the same time, I switched from a GMax modular full face to a Daytona DOT half helmet.
Yesterday I took the bike to work, and was going to be coming home in the dark so decided to wear the full face instead of the half - and the difference really surprised me. With the half, I can run up to 85 mph and not get any head buffet. The full face starts getting annoying at 65, and was constantly irritating cruising at 70. I was also getting a LOT of wind turbulence noise from the full face helmet that I don't notice with the half. Gonna have to try without the windshield to see if that makes a difference.
I did demo a '14 Heritage, and the head buffet (had the full face on) at 55-60 was as bad or worse than my Deluxe is at 70.
