Here's a link to a page that shows my fatboy with Wild 1 - 518's. The width of the bars are good but I still think they come back about two inches too far. I'm 5 ft.11 in. and they have me leaning back a little, not sitting straight up. On the first ride, I noticed that I couldn't lean forward at all. My arms went straight and my stomach muscles got tight from holding myself up. Even now, I keep pulling my upper body forward and my butt back to get comfortable. On a long trip with forward controls or pegs on an engine guard, they might feel pretty comfortable but I would want a backrest behind me too. If you're my size, I'd recommend something with less pullback.
Thanks for the info Bigbender. The pics look nice! I'm 5'-10" sothey would probably feel roughly the same for me. I've noticed the 518's have 14.25" pullback and the 508's have 16". So based on your opinion of the 518's, the 508's would probably haveme leaning back that much more. The 508's are just not as wide.
I'm glad to help. When I ordered them, I thought that leaning forward was a bad thing but now I wish I could get some lean back into my ride. Another seat might move my butt back farther but it would have to be thinner and probably take away comfort. While I'm out at Sturgis this year, I'm hoping to see Wild 1 and try out their bar demo tool. (see link below) If you could find one of these locally, that would be the best way to find what you want.
