Default How easy is install of Ness billet shifter rod?

I have been pretty disappointed in the appearance of the stock plated shifter rod on my 2014 Breakout. Its finish looks so bad compared to everything else on that side of the bike.

I found a good deal on an Arlen Ness pn 19-933 black beveled shifter rod, and have it coming to me.

The Ness rod does not use "heim joints" like those on the stock rod and many aftermarket ones. Instead, it has bearings pressed into the billet rod itself, so that no threaded portions or separate rod ends are used.

Is the Ness rod a straight and simple operation to install in place of the stock rod, or are there any "adjustments" needed when replacing the stock rod?

Here's a photo of the Arlen ness rod I have coming:

If the foot lever arrangement hasn't changed, the only adjustment you'll have left is moving the lever on the spline.

Exactly what QC said - rather than adjust the threaded rod to adjust the height of the lever, you'll have to move the lever on the spline.

The new one will look a hell of a lot better than the stock one. I'd like to get a hold of something like the one you've posted up, but the one I have is +2" due to moving my controls forward, so I'm probably either stuck with PCing it black, or making a custom one (which is possible, just not high on my project list).

Should bolt right up. Looks like a good design. Replacements with heim joints are fine also...its the ones with plastic ball joints that are not dependable and can pop out when they start to get old...
Should look sweet...enjoy.
