I have both a dyna and a softail. They're different enough that I enjoy switching off, but not all that different in handling. The softail has less cornering clearance and will scrape the frame sooner.

A wide rear tire (I have a 240) handles a little different, but there's nothing bad about it and one gets used to it quickly. It takes a little more "countersteer" to flop it over into a quick turn, but that's about it.

I have a Fat Boy and get aggressive sometimes. Warp Factor is exactly right.

That's cool dude just make sure when you test ride the softail you ride them the way you would your Dyna so you won't be surprised by the limited lean angle if you decide to buy one. Some people buy the fatboy lo or the slim and complain about the lean angle even though they are made to be slammed and low to the ground. If you are an aggressive rider the FB lo and the slim are the last bikes in the world you should consider.

I had a Night Train with a wide tire. You get used to it and did not notice it after awhile, but the thinner tire on my Heritage corners much better. I love the balance and feel of the Softail. The Dyna will out corner it, but otherwise it is a superior bike.

alright, so the general consensus is that the only thing the dyna outperforms on is at-speed cornering. If the ride on a softail is as good as most here are saying, I can live with that! I really am liking the look of the slim.

As I put custom touches on my SB, I realized I was going more for comfort , looks and storage and nothing really on performance. I'm looking to cruise and have a good time, the softail may be a better fit for me. I've only been riding 5 years or so, and so far have owned a sportster and dyna. I suppose others have been through many bikes before they found the one that really felt right. It's all part of the fun right?!?!

That's the idea. Ride what you like!
Keep in mind Softails are all about style and nostalgic look and feel and not performance and handling.

went from a 05 Lowrider to a 2013 slim, sold Lowrider, life got crazy had to sell slim, for a brief stint owned an x bones (6-months) just traded it and my old evo(98 softail custom) for a 2014 slim the slim fits perfect out of the box for me. (vertically challenged) back on a slim!
if the slim was available in 2005 when I bought my Lowrider it would be paid for LOl, and have a boat load of miles on it, on long rides I could never get comfortable on my Lowrider non issue on the slim for me, Love the slim
. I know the pillion is on backwards and has since been corrected

I consider myself a motorcycle rider first and foremost. I love to ride.

I've had two Sporties, and now the '14 Super Glide. I do love this bike.

My riding buddy has a '14 Heritage Classic, and I took a ride the other day. Wow. I have to tell you, given that it's almost 100 pounds heavier I was expecting something...ponderous. I couldn't have been more surprised. First, the 103B engine is so smooth. Yes, the difference in power is very noticeable. My Dyna has had the Super Pro tune, and it pulls much, much more strongly than the Heritage.

Here's what blew me away...how nice the Heritage turned. The steering felt surprisingly light, and it was so easy to throw into tight corners. Obviously, not mine, so I didn't push it, but there's no way the lean angle will allow you to go canyon carving on this.

Bottom line, I will absolutely be considering a softie for my next bike.

Traded in my 98 Heritage for a new 2013 Wide Glide, 4 months later I traded in the Wide Glide for a 2014 Heritage. The difference in handling and comfort of riding was way better on the Softail.
