lost power

Default lost power

I just started my 2000 softail deuce. I herd a light pop or snapping noise then lost all power to the bike. no lights or anything. I checked the battery and that is fully charged. I checked fuses and all are fine. what is it. I have a veterans ride on Saturday Please Help

What about the connections at the battery? Are they making good contact? How did you check the battery do you have a meter? Start with the source and work out from there

As Davidwruth stated, with a meter, you should start at the battery and work outwards. Additionally, there is a 30 Amp breaker located in front of your rear tire splash guard. These breakers are not waterproof and over the years will corrode. Ignition switches on the console also often fail.

Battery connections are tight and the volt meter shows full charge where is the breaker?? I looked is it under the seat on the rear fender??

Is there a way to test the ignition switch and is the breaker in the fender under the seat. sorry new to riding and famularity to this bike

The 30 amp breaker is a small metal device with two terminal post, one copper in color and the other silver. On the silver post connects the Voltage Regulator output wire and a wire to the ignition switch. On the copper post, is a wire leading to a terminal on the starter which the positive battery cable is also connected. This breaker is an inexpensive item and I replace mine every 2 years just as a maintenance item. Don't know if this breaker is the cause of your problem but I recommend replacing it anyway.
