Are most of the Windvest available for Harley's generic?, such as the 14"x14"or 14"x16" shields exactly the same part, holes in the same location?, also is the crossbar the same?, and is it just the clamps, both size and mounting type that are different?
The windshields are the same just vary in size, I have both the 14x14 and 14x16. Holes in same location to adjust up and down. The main difference between models are the clamps. Clamps are shorter, longer, straight, curved etc...to accommodate different bikes. They have some smaller shields for custom applications. Hope this helps a little, I'm not an expert on these windshields but I own a couple.
Thanks Shadowray for the response!
The reason i ask is that i currently have the stock handlebars on my 07 FXSTC, however i may change to an 1.5" t-bar setup in the near future, but i may have the opportunity to purchase a Windvest from an 04 FXDL.
I would like to purchase a shield now,but only if i can adapt or purchase just the clamps to accommodate both sets of bars.
Well not to dissuade you but I've got the 14X14 and it's not up to too much. For me on my 08 Crossbones is causes more turbulence under my chin than without but does slow up the bug splatter on the chest. I have a Harley shield on the way from Fleabay and it doesn't care how fat your bars are.
