Fellow Deuce owners,

Have any of you guys added a fork brace to your Deuce? Does it help any or is it just bling? I've been thinking about working on my suspension some with a Race Tech Caddies fork kit, some new Metzler ME880's and maybe a SE fork brace.

Thanks for any input.

I have the HD fork brace. mostly bling , but it does help stiffen the front and reduce the fork flex. possibly reducing some wobble in the corners. i got mine off ebay cheap the price was right. full price it's not worth it!

Thanks for the input,

It looks good on your Deuce, glad to hear it serves some worthy function as well. At $200 for the SE, it does seem a bit pricey. I can get the SE from Zanotti's for about $160 but maybe I can score one off eBay for less. At that $200-300 range, I'm going for the Race Tech kit first. I'm thinking that and some new ME880s may be the best way to spend my money first on the suspension. BTW, what windshield are you using? I've been thinking of getting a windshield as well. I don't like the way most of them look on a Deuce though. Yours looks good. On longer HWY rides, it would be nice to have an optional windshield to keep me from getting hammered by the wind, rocks, bugs..

I've seen a few of those fork braces go for around $85.00 on ebay, don't know if I want one yet!

as far as windshields go, I got the HD quick release windshield, no mounting hardware on the forks and it's on/ off in about 5sec.

Looks good Tom,

Yours looks a lot bigger though. Do the smaller ones work effectively? No use in putting one on if it wouldn't serve it's purpose. If I get one, I want to make sure I get the smallest one I can that still helps.

What bag is that on your frame BTW? I have a HD fork bag hanging under my headlight but I like the smaller one you have mounted on your frame. I'm not sure I like mine hanging under my billet headlight. Also, did you trim down your license plate bracket? I've got a Radiantz LED, chrome license plate frame that I'm going to be putting on and the stock black frame has a lot of excess around the sides and bottom. I thought trimming it down some and drilling it for four, properly spaced holes would do the trick.

Thanks for the input.

Thanks,

I'm not sure what difference the smaller windshields make, I do know that they are not as easy to remove as the HD quick release, plus, with the quick release, there is no mounting hardware for the windshield on the bike.

The bag isa fork bag that I mounted on the frame, I have a bigger version that's made to strap to the Deuce handlebar risers that I can also use.
here's a pic of the other bag.

I did trim my plastic license plate holder, I used the chromelicense plate frame as a template and cut the excess plastic off with a dermel tool.
now that I'm putting on the 18x 5.5 rear wheel and 180 tire I'm considering taking off the license plate holder all together and getting a curved side mount plate holder like this one............

Thanks again for the info,

The quick release is a definite need as well as no mounting hardware left on the bike. It will probably come down to what's the best I can find on eBay for cheap since I'll seldom use the windshield.

Here's the fork bag I have:
http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US

I don't have a pic with it mounted but it fits perfectly below my headlight and it's nice and secure. I'm not sure I like the look there though but I need something to hold small stuff like my clear glass lenses, cloths, mini tool, etc.. Actually stuffed some cigars in there the other day. [sm=pimp.gif] All the bags I saw were too wide to mount on that portion of the frame where yours is and hung over the sides too much. I'll have to keep my eyes open for something.

That license plate mount looks great. There are a lot of vertical options out there available. Checkout Custom Dynamics, they have a lot of good options including a vertical version of the LED Radiantz one I have. Ness has some nice ones as well. When I upgrade my rear wheel/tire/fender later, I'll probably be going with a vertical one as well (unless I get one that is built into the fender). I'm holding out for a rear setup like Crazy Canook or something like this:
http://www.geocities.com/asahitoro/s...tshots_stg.jpg

I want to upgrade my engine (110+) and get a new paint job as well so I gotta prioritize this stuff based on need/want and finances. If I spend big bucks soon, I think the engine upgrade is the current frontrunner out of those three.

Let us know how that 18" wheel goes. Again, your bike looks great.

Happy New Year! [sm=partyparty.gif]
