The S&S 110" kit with the 583 cam have grown on me - at first I wasn't sure, but now I just can't stay off the gas, LOL ! The more I play, the more she drinks !

Anyway there was a little bit of money left from the cholo sale, enough for a down payment on this:
2011 model with very low miles.
I will be doing a number of mods over the month that I am home. First to go will be the orange tins - they are in perfect condition.
Back again, Boneheads!
A few pics of my South African ride, as it stands now:

Right side, showing exhaust detail, toolbox and oil tank detail

Front view - 7" Fatboy headlight, and 4&*1/2" spots, all LED

Left side, showing tank pads, tank logo, toolbox and oil tank detail

Back view with stock turn signals, stock seats, and tombstone taillight

Right rear view

At Bloemendaal 360 (Restaurant) with Table Mountain in the background.
It's been a nightmare getting to this stage:
I sourced all new tins, so I can go back to Sedona Orange if I grow bored.
The tins (including the oil tank and light buckets) were all painted in Qatar (Motocoat) and they did a beautiful job - but were couriered to Cape Town on Aramex, and almost all were damaged in transit (poor packaging) and had to be repainted in Cape Town by two different painters, neither of whom managed to match the tank colour exactly, so while not immediately evident, the colours are all slightly different.
Exhaust was built to my spec by Motocoat fabricator using new parts from eBay, de-chromed and Cerrakoted by Motocoat.
Assembly and some bespoke fabrication was done by James Mundey (Quattrotechnic Motorcycles in Brackenfell) he is a HD PHD, now running his own show. He worked with me to get the work done on schedule, under budget, and exactly as I requested - I am a really fussy old fart, and his ability, honesty and work ethic are second to none.

Stuff still to do for X'mas 2024:
1. I managed to get a set of Iron Max bags for this bike too, but even with extended rear fender rails, the stock turn signals can't fit. So, I will modify an old Road King rear light bar and fit that, as on my other bike, then then fit the BIIIIIIG bags. The ones you see here won't even take a small spare helmet!
2. In using the bigger lollipop turn signals from the RK, I have bought an old RK front light bar, and will fit the matching turn signals on that - I will probably fit 5 & 3/4" headlights instead of the 4 & 1/2" spots, same as the other bike (scroll back a couple of pages for comparison) so I can have dip and bright on the spots too.
3. Get the tall windshield - this one is not only too short, but it's also cracked. Some purists rib me about the windshield (and the full fenders) but I ride year-round, and in all weather. Believe me they are necessary. Cape Town can get very wet in the winter.
4. Fit the Klicktronic - I can ride without it, but as I have a spare, why not?
5. Fit the air driven siren - the damned springer horn is just too weak to get texting soccer mom's attention sometimes!
6. Get new Fatboy rear fender and Heritage front fender and have them painted Sedona Orange, Get these tins repainted by Gordon Netherton (Pure Art in Sun Valley) so they match perfectly, so I can go back to that colour, at some point, and then:
7. During the change-over James can address some minor areas of corrosion he saw during the first phase.
8. Original handgrips are perished and sticky, so I will be replacing them with the proper "Nostalgic" ones.
9. I have a quick release sissy bar, and bespoke quick release "pogo" passenger seat, using another X'bones main seat. They can't go on at the same time, so I am going to weld them together for when my lady wife joins me - she has a coccyx problem, so the stock pillion just kills her! I also have an HD 1925 seat to swap out when I am in "solo" mode.
10. Since these pics, I have fitted a DK Customs coil relocation kit - really cleans up the left-hand side.

Still undecided:
These are things I am considering and/or saving for. Should I go ahead, they will be done early 2025:
1. My other X'bones has S&S 110" big bore kit, with S&S Camchest, upgrade oil pump, and 583 Cam, and Dynojet Target tune. At the end of the day, I have to decide if sinking so much money in will be worth the small gains. Probably just do half: the Cam, Camchest and Dynojet, and then see. When putting together the exhaust, we added wide band bungs, so we can go that way if we need to.
2. My bike still has stock bars, and they are surprisingly comfortable. I have 16" Carlini Gangsta Apes on the other, but don't think they will suit this one, so the choice will be to remain with stock, or to change to a "Hollywood" bar like the Softail Slim.
3. I managed to find a set of the Revtech Xzotic KnuckleHead Rockerbox covers (no longer made) but when they arrived, they said they are for an 88" - James says they will fit, I am not certain. If they do, we will use them.
4. Depending on whether my wife rides with me often or not, I have a set of HD Half Moon Passenger Foot Boards for this bike.
5. I have an old pyrene brass fire extinguisher, period correct, but they cannot be recertified for use, so if I cand find a clever machinist to turn it into a document tube, or to carry a bottle of grog, I may do it .
6. I have additional cooling on my "Doha 'Bones" by way of a Jagg 10 row fan assisted oil cooler (believe me its needed in Summer here) but for my "Cape Town 'Bones" I have, left over from other builds a) a DK Customs oil filter relocation kit, b) Ward Parks Werks Fans, c) a Lenale fan, and d) an Oil Bud oil cooler. I may and try fit any or all of these - cooler is better in Africa, surely?
7. I picked up one of those Viper alarms, that you can record your own warning, say "Step Away from the Vehicle" in Terminator or Robocop voice, or maybe "Oooh! He touched me!" in a young girls voice.

Long term.
Both of my 'Bones will stay with me after retirement, one will remain a solo rider, but this one will probably get a sidecar, so the missus can ride with me in comfort, and bring her poodles.

Anyway, time to sign off now, but any suggestions from you guys would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Peggers

I've seen that style exhaust a handful of times on the Crossbones and gotta say, soon as I find a place who'll make me one, that's what I'm putting on my bike

@MilsurpShooter almost all of the parts bought off eBay:
Header: 2 into 1 Exhaust Pipe Header Chrome fits Harley Davidson | eBay
Muffler: 34" Shark Fin Custom Cruiser Vintage Motorcycle Muffler Fishtail Chrome 1.75" | eBay
Flexible Covers: Flexible Exhaust Cover for Harley Davidson by V-Twin | eBay
Hard cover for the 2 into 1 "Y" joint was made from the heatshields of the OEM exhaust cut to match & welded together.
Wide band O2 bungs: 2 set O2 SENSOR WELD IN EXHAUST STEPPED BUNG + HEX PLUG KIT STAINLESS M18X1.5 | eBay
Test fit to the bike with a few generic exhaust clamps to make sure it all worked, then sent for CerraKote (high temp matt black ceramic powder coat) - not perfect, but beats the alternative - the shabby titanium fabric exhaust wrap.
Hope this helps.
