OK, the battery cover is back from the paint shop and it turned out better than I had thought possible. This plastic part no longer looks plastic! I think this is the easiest solution to the cheesey cover.
From the painter: Textured plastic requires an initial sanding to rough the surface. Then shoot a layer of primer. Sand out the primer coat. Shoot the paint coat. Then shoot a couple layers of clear coat.
Total cost at Maaco: $75
So here it is: I am almost there. I will be relocating the headlight to the lower shock bolt with the RSD mount. Also, Cross Bones bags from HD.
after putting on rush slip one passengers right foot gets hot is this from mufflers? wasnt a problem when stock mufflers were on but at that time outside temp was 45* and yesterdays ride was 60*?
I like the stock seat. Just needed to be lowered. Purchased two valve springs from the Chevy dealer. Was faster than cleaning some used ones. I completely guesstimated the spring rate & installed height; was right on first try. And rattle can black, just like I like it.
Wow hog. That is a great solution. Looks much better than stock. Looks like one of those Heartland battery covers now. Nice job..

For all of you who have inquired about my leather battery cover. It's something that a friend and I made. We made and sold 4 extra covers, but the time it takes to make one didn't really make much sense for us to keep doing it. We are considering putting together a pattern kit, complete with part numbers of the products we bought at Tandy Leather. They are expensive to make, but well worth the effort and money spent. If you'd be interested in a pattern kit, send me a pm..
the lower profile seat really looks great. $$$ well spent. is it comfortable? the stock seat is plush enough to ride all day but this one looks like your a$$ might hate you after a couple of hours...
