Made a last minute decision to ride to the Parkway on the 4th. Left home here in central NC at 7 AM and headed north on 86 to Danville VA, then 29 north to the Smith Mountain/Gretna exit and on to 43(took a shortcut to Bedford on Bishops Creek road.....CHECK IT OUT IF YA GET A CHANCE!!!) and Bedford VA to see the WWII memorial, an awesome stop in its self. Got back on 43 north to the Peaks of Otter and headed south on the BRP to Route 8 south and back home through Danbury, Kville and I40 home. All total 400 miles in 8.5 hours. Needless to say I was hammering on the 4 lanes. Good day on the road. How many of yall did I meet on the BRP? I got on at about 1030 and off about 1PM. I WAVED at everybody so dont think I didnt see ya.
Wife and I were on the BRP last weekend. We left Dayton OH at 5 AM, Friday 29 June, in the rain and headed down R35 to WVA, then I 64 to Buena Vista and jumped on the parkway. We ruffed it out and camped two nights at Otter Creek (packing for two on one bike is a challenge, but we survived) and traveled all over the place. Sunday we then headed down the park to Mabry Mill. We got a Hotel in Hillsville Va and headed home Monday morning on I 77 into WVa and off onto SR 3 across WVA (very nice ride) into Ohio in Ironton and Rt 52 to Ripley and north on 68 home. 1200 miles all told. We would have went further south on the BRP, but as it was I hit 5,300 miles and had to get my 5,000 mile inspection. Met several nice riders out there. Canât wait to go back and hit the rest of the park.
Sounds like y'all did some nice ridin! I envy y'all. I usually just get the week ends to ride the Parkway. One of these days I'm just gonna take the Vacation time and ride that Sucker, end to end!!!!

Hi ******,

Yea or late Spring too. Man I was up there in April, week long trip from and around Pigeon Forge. The Parkway was closed from Cherokee to Asheville because of wind and Ice damage. Smokey Mtn Parkway got some damage as did the Gatlinburg Bypass. there are pictures here somewhere of us with Snow Covering the bikes!
Sounds like a plan. Keep it in mind and lets meet in Cherokee and do the entire lengthof the BRP and Skyland. Thats my plan to do it in sections for right now till I get a little more saddle time in. I got to work on my downhill moves some!!!!!!
