If you were passing thru Virginia and had only a day or two, what is a MUST see (early September) ...
Thanks in advance for any ideas
added note: We don't know which way we're going thru the state, could be coastal, central, or ???? We are taking a tour after leaving Milwaukee and someone in our group wanted to go thru Virginia, so we are just looking for ideas ....
Which part of the state will you be passing through? The Must see places will completly depend on your interests. If you are into history there are lots of options, civil war battlefields, Arlington Cemetary in the east, Mount Vernon, Monticello, etc. If you are more into nature and a nice ride I would suggest Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway. In Sept (depending on the weather and early or late) the leaves will start changing and there are many nice views to be had in the mountains.
whatever you do there, DON'T SPEED. VA. is teaming with cops just itching to give you a ticket, especially if you are out of state. Trust me, I lived there.

I still live here and have never had any issues regarding speed.
Like Overhead said, Depends on where your passing thru... coastal, central or western. There's lots of sites any way you go. Colonial Parkwayfrom Williamsburg to Yorktown, Route 5 from Williamsburg to Richmond (Va. By-way), Route 43 from Altivista (29-N) to the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Blue Ridge Parkway to Skyline Drive, .... the list can go on.

Same here. The rule is basically the same in all states. Don't speed and you won't get a ticket.
