My intent this week was to take some pictures but... I haven't. Checking MurderBeachonline there's pictures. There's pictures from a Bike Wash at Murrells Inlet from Wednesday? Anyway checking out the pictures this one was posted for Wednesday and I just happen to find a huge liking to so I ripped it off. Going back on Thursday any idea what picture was no longer there? You guessed it. So here it is.
I do believe I'd pay her $25.00 to wash my scooter.
I came down Tues - stopped by the HD place at shallotte - nice building, a handful of vendors and the same thing the other dealers have - really didn't impress me that much.
Today i stopped by Barefoot Landing - talking to one of the vendors and state officials made their presence known yesterday - shut down Big Dog and Ultimate Seats because although they had a display permit but not a selling permit so they packed up and off they went.
it's really been slow - kinda reminded of the fall rally.
At any rate, i'm outta here early in the am. Y'all ride safe if you venture down this way.
From what I've seen, I think 50% might be a little conservative. At least 50% but I think actually into the 40's.
I'm not looking forward to the Atlantic Beach Crime Fest (Memorial Day crowd) coming in. I'll bet they'll be in full force. So what the MB Council did was run the good guys off and (probably) have little or no effect on the actual problem.
Lets say there are 50,000 bikes there...Thats alot of bikes! But nothing compared to over 300,000 in years past. I'm proud to be one of those 300,000 that decided Myrtle Beach can kiss my azz.
just got back to Jersey..we had a good time, from what we heard from vendors and locals, attendance was way down in comparision to years past..seem to be alot of bikes and trailers heading into the area as we were leaving...
Dustin - had a good time at your place, Tues, sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you..hey, if Crissy from Atlanta, is still working there..tell her Marty said "hey" ...great girl!
Just got back from Myrtle Beach (FUMB) and had a GREAT TIME! Met up with Dustin and took a ride up to Shallotte, NC for the Beach House HD Grand Opening on Tuesday. Great time! Thanks for the time, Dustin! Dog House rocks (and Secrets is, well, Secrets!)!
Murrell's Inlet and Surfside were pretty nice. NMB had a good number of people. The City was DEAD!!! I took a pic of my buddy on Ocean Blvd., in the middle of the road, at 6pm, and he stood there for minutes without being passed by ANY vehicles. Sadly (for the proprietors), most hotels looked closed for business. Lost about 1/2 of the business and cut their rates by 50% or more.
SBB (Carnival of Crue and Highway to Hell are great cover bands) and Iron Gate (Hog Wild girls are fantastic) were awesome. Big crowds most nights. Broken Spoke was packed last night. Beaver Bar was hurt a lot. The Rat Hole can kiss my *** (and judging by the number of people turning around when they were asked to pay $10 for admission (all week) just to get on the grounds, most felt the same way!)!
All in all, I had a good time, but missed a lot of the excitement from the bikes. Like the shirts say, FUMB--we came anyway!, and MAYOR RHODES SUCKS!
I really hate it for the venders and other businesses that benifited from us going to the rally, maybe the next mayor and city council will try to get things changed back but it may be a little late now. I am sure with the economy being down isn't helping matters either with less tourist coming to town and then tell 300,000+ people they don't want them there had to hurt...that was real smart.
Just got back and I think it's down. One outstanding Hooter's girl said it was down 50% from years past. I took a ride down Ocean Blvd and the only lights you saw was on the vacany signs on the hotels. Very little traffic on Ocean Blvd.
I stayed in Surfside and went to The Beaver most nights because I could find a place to park and it was close to my condo. Sunday was good, Monday was awful, but that was because it was rather cool and rained.
My first year was last year, so I only have last year to compare it to, but it seemed to me that the city was showing constraint but attendence was down. I went to HB Spokes twice and it was dead on the first trip and not too busy on the second trip. I did drop $900 on a Arai helmet with headset, mike and a portable radio so I won't have to humm songs to myself. But that was in the Bass Pro Shops shopping center in NMB.
