Virginia Mountains?

Just moved to virginia a few months ago, would really like to take the wife on a ride into the mountains I've heard about, I am in Virginia beach can anyone tell me the best ride to the mountains and maybe a place to stay the night looking for a few hour ride stay the night head home next morning. Thanks

West... go west.. at least 4 hr ride to get to the foothills. Get a map and look at Rt 58 west. If you like leisurely riding with lots of hills and curves, that's your road. When you get to Meadows of Dan , get on the Blue Ridge Parkway north (45 mph MAX) up to about Roanoke, then 220 south to Rt. 40 East back toward VA Beach. If 40 gets to be too long and slow (and it probably will), take it to 360/460 and 460 right back home you go.. Might want to do google "streetview" to get an idea of the roads... figure the better part of two days.. lots of little B & B's/hotels around Meadows of Dan or Blue Ridge Parkway north-internet is your friend when it comes to that..

went to a party up there last year and floated the river stayed in natural bridge hotel buetiful place up there, pretty cool floating the river hereing all the motorcycle running the mountains
