i went to the rally last year for the first time. we were blown away by the amount of people there, dickson street was too crowded to even walk around. we had fun though and of course the riding is great. i try to get up to eureka at least 3 times a year.
There are going to be some changes this year. I live in the area and just found out about a meeting they had last night. It seems that there are some local business owners (one jewerly store was named) that are totally against the rally and want it shut down. That wont happen but they are going to change some things. The parade of bikes is supposed to be at a later time and taking a different route (?). Alot of the venders and the entertainment will probably be moved to the Randall Tyson Track Center (where the overflow was last year). It seems the jewerly store claimed he lost 30 thousand dollars in revenu the 4 days last year. They way I see it, if he can make 30 thousand in 4 days, he should be making enough the rest of the year that he could take a vacation during the rally. By the way, DONT park your bike anywhere around his business ANYTIME unless you are a customer of his store. That means all year long.
The only bad thing about BBQ is the prices they charge for vendor spots, they hit me, Big Dog, and Suter for 10,000 a pop to sit our rigs. For what is really a two day rally. You can rent a spot big enough for three rigs at Daytona, for 10,000 total. I live just two hours south of the rally, and it's unbelivable what they charge. Great rally......but cmon 10,000 grand a spot
