I called the dealer about the 5000 mile service on my bike and they want $300 for it. Does anyone in the Austin Texas area know of a good, trusted certified independent mechanic?
If it weren't for the stupid warranty, I would just it my darn self. It can't be that difficult that it bills out at 3 hours......
I'm sick of paying Harley for service. Anyone have suggestions?
Do it Yourself,It wont hurt You warranty! You just need to change all the fluids and lube the throttle and such which is very easy.I do take mine in at 10000 because I don't want to mess with the wheel bearings.
Try Hog Alley in Georgetown. I've turned all my service over to them. I would like to do my own, but right now it's just easier to drop it off with them. Call and ask for Erica, she will hook you up. http://hogalley.net/
I was looking over the manual for the oil change and my eyes glazed over.
Not to mention, i noticed the manual said the front fork oil needed to be changed every 50K miles, and my dealer said every 10K. Those fockers just want to extort money from me!
It's really easy. From the south, just take the lakeway exit, cross over the freeway and head back south. They are right on the access road.
The service guys they have are top notch. I have talked with two of them and their experience really shows. So far, they have done the 10,000 mile service and put on new Metzlers for me. They are certified to do extended warranty work on HD. I've been up there when folks brought their bikes in for service from Marble Falls and Taylor.
I dont work there nor do I have any interest in their buisness. They have just treated me right and taken excellent care of my Ultra Classic
