yea july and Aug can get pretty hot here in MI

not the heat so much that gets ya its the humdity .

but it dosent bother me much .

I was stationed in 29 palms CA and rode there all year and it gets pretty hot there as well

i would much rather deal with the heat than wearing layers on layers to ride up here in febuary and march .

Hold onto your wallet when you buy plates for your vehicles its based on the price. $40,000 trk.= $700. per yr. BUT if you buy a vehicle from a privet person you do not pay sales tax.
It's still better here than OH & MI. LOL

Can you ride in the day time in July and Aug? Or is it like the northeast in the winter months when everyone hibernates.

Sure you can, just make sure that you have water with you. dehydration will sneak up on you in the desert. not sure if I spelled dehydration right, but I hope you get what I mean

I came here from NY in 04, never looked back either. My ONLY regrett is not making the move 20 years earlier. You will like it here. If for whatever reason you do miss IL, who says you can't just get on your bike and go for a nice long ride?
