I hear ya Oldgeezer, but El Paso is my base of operations for the week. \\; I can only stay in Albuquerque for a night or two. \\;
 \\;
On the way there, I'm probably gonna take Hwy 71 up through south Austin and onto 290 through the hill country until it hooks up with I-10 again after Fredericksburg. \\; That should be a \\;much nicer ride \\;than just I-10 straight and it is actually a few miles shorter. \\; At least I can improve the first half of the drive without adding too much time to the trip.
I travel from Albuquerque to El Paso 3 or 4 times a year. The I-25 to I-10 route is very boring.
 \\;
 \\;
Only if you stay on the interstate! There some state roads that parallel the freeway and are quite scenic. I've found that I can get from Deming to Socorro and only ride 3 miles on I-25! Spike, if you're interested give me a PM and I can give you some alternate routes between Albuquerque and Las Cruces.
Wish I could have taken the time off, I would have loved to make that ride with you. \\; Maybe another time or maybe if there is enough interest could get the Houston members together for a 3 day weekend ride or something.
