Anyone in Tucson interested in a weekday ride the week of 1 May- 5 May?
I need a good place to go ride and would like to go with someone who knows the area well and can show me some good places to go that aren't riddled with cagers.
I'll be working but the best ride here is Catalina Highway. It's 27 miles from the bottom of Mt. Lemon to the top which has a small little community called Summerhaven. Beautiful and scenic. Lots of twisties and overlooks but nothing I would consider dangerous.
Go to the N. E. corner of your Tucson map and find where Tanque Verde and Catalina Highway meet. Head N.N.E. on Catalina Highway and you'are on your way. It's all part of the National Forest. You will have to buy a day pass but I strongly suggest it is worth it. Take your time, enjoy the overlooks, have lunch in Summerhaven: Make a day of it.
Mt. Lemon is a great trip. UltraGeezerGlide took us there the weekend we visited Tucson. He also took us to the church on the south end of the city, and to the Suguaro National Forest. Any place he steers you toward will be a fun and rewarding ride.
