I just out-thunk myself and drained the return oil in the lower pan for my '03 Sporty [:@]. It is becoming clearer to me that Harleys are not like cars! I removed the T-25 screw and drained the oil from underneath thinking I was smarter than the book. Well not much came out, so I read the service manual again and drained the rest of the oil. I looked at the lubrication diagram on 3-50, and want to find out if this could cause any damage? This is probably a silly question, but I would rather be safe than sorry. I am not sure if the oil pump will run dry and burn up, or if oil will fill it quickly enough.
your sporty has a rubber hose that runs into the frame. it just in front of the swing arm and it bends 90 degres into the frame and has a clamp on it. just loosen the clamp pull the hose and pop the tank cap. it sounds to me like you may have drained your primary oil. het some help to check it out BEFORE YOU START IT!! good luck dude let us know if everything is ok!
It was my primary oil. When I drained it, I knew there were only two fluids in the bike and I was changing both of them. When I was done, I pulled the plug to check. As soon as a little primary oil came out I knew. The old stuff was pretty wore out, it felt like engine oil. Thanks for the advice,
