alright i'm riding from Jolit,IL to Twin lakes, Wi tomorrow, probably about 60-70 miles. Forecast is calling for about 42 degrees. I'm going up there for a poker tournament at my grandfathers house, meeting my uncle about 1/4 way to ride up with him. Now my uncle is crazy, he don't care what the temp is (has all his hand, leg warmers and all that other stuff), me not so much. Any suggestions on the best clothing to wear? i figured obviously long underwear and bunch of thermal stuff, along with my leather coat and gloves...also picked up a full helmet today to keep my head warm. I'm not really big on riding in the cold but i figure if dresses properly it shoudn't be a big deal.

I wear a FF helmet in the cold also makes a big difference, I also use a skiing neck warmer to fill in the gap between jacket and helmet. Make sure your gloves are the long riding type that go over your jacket cuff not under. I got a pair of flanel lined jeans but I still put long underwear underneath them. Get all dressed then take a short 5 mile ride to see how you feel so you can go home and add more layers if needed before you leave on your trip.

I have rode in 38 degress for 56 miles. Leather chaps for the legs, leather jacket with leather vest and fleece underneath, leather thinsulate gloves, full face helmet. The only part of me that really got cold was the exposed part of my neck.
