Default Brit Bike Influence

I seem to have a thing for classic British styled bikes. As such, that seems to be the direction my 02 Sportster has gone.

The latest modifications are the wide low bars and a 7" headlight. Of course the headlight is as functional as much as having the look I like. I used "ears" that mount to the fork tubes rather than a single top or bottom mount.

I had the Biltwell tracker bars on it before, but these have just about an inch more rise and a couple inches more pull-back. Along with a set of Iso grips, it totally transformed the feel. Much improved.

I also recently installed a Ness Big Sucker air cleaner. (not in the photo). I thought I was ordering a stage one, but due to inattention, got the stage 2 instead. I got drawn in by the grooved cover.

The cover is over an inch and a half bigger in diameter and sticks out an extra 1/2" over the stage one. My leg hits it. I don't like it. I think I'll switch it out a little later.

I reckon not much on this one left to do other'n ride it!

Although, a set of.......OK, maybe there is stuff left to do!

Bloody good mate, I like the look.
If you really want the Brit look you should put front fender brackets (the ones that go from the front & rear of the fender to the fork) and maybe some knee pads on the sides of the gas tank.

Looking forward to the evolution of your Brit inspired Sporty!

Might be cool to see a set of pipes like these on a Sportster-

Just so happens that a Bonneville is the Sporty's stablemate!

Yes it is John. I drag race this car, its a 1965, with a turbocharged methanol burning 2332cc motor that produces in excess of 500 hp at 20 psi of boost. Completely street legal, it's run a best of 9.85 at 143mph in the quarter mile.
Google Mike Lawless, Karmann Ghia, and choose images. It's one of the most photographed cars in VW racing.

The mounting height of the headlight goes good with the skinny front tire.
Nice symmetry and balance , and the 7" light is easy to like at night from the rider side too.
I've always liked wider bars , just my personal preference.
Different but unique and pleasing look.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

The headlight and mount ears came from here….

http://www.dimecitycycles.com/7-inch...with-bulb.html

No real issues. Two of the deutsch connectors had to be disassembled to get the wiring harness out of the original bucket. There's a few you tube videos on that. Much easier than I initially thought it would be

The new headlight has one big hole, so all the wires have to go through that.
I couldn't fit the speedometer connector into the bucket because those wires are too short. They were underneath the original hood and out of sight. They're still out of sight after a minor reroute, but a clean-up of that will be for another day
