Hi I'm about to covert my 2003 XL883 Custom to a 1200 using a kit, I'm looking for some step by step instructions and Exploded Views, Diagramsof the engine etc to help me suss it out before I start. Any info or links would be appreicated thanks. Nick
There was a forum member that did this just a few months back. I can't remember his screen name, but if you do a search you should find it. He did an excellent job not only taking pictures of the entire process, but making notations on the pictures, and provided plenty of hints, and helpful tidbits along the way.
Before you turn a screw, buy an HD Service manual for your scoot and study the Top End Overhaul section. You'll have a pretty good idea what you'll need for the job. If you do everything right you'll have a nice fast bike. Do 1 thing wrong and you'll have an expensive mess on your hands.
