I could say the grass is always greener on the other bike. While reading another post on springs for a new solo seat, I see the set aside seat identical to a spare seat I have. Can these solo seats from H-D be easily modified to install on an older solid frame sportster? Maybe some one has parts kit for this? It looks like the rear bolt might line up ok.
Some pics, worth 1000 words.
And, a Merry Christmas to all.

Reason: fix photos and title
If the front bayonet mount fits, and the hole in back lineup, it should work. Check for any interference and use some neoprene padding (old wetsuit or mouse pad) if necessary.
That front bayonet mount would have to come off. Nice thing about this seat is how it fills the gap behind the peanut gas tank. And it looks great. Even though, I got it more/less for free, I don't want to ruin it. It is like new.
I dont see any provision for the horizontal cross piece used on the pre'04 Sportster seats. Maybe HD is not interested in backwards compatibility. The right miracle epoxy&nuts and cross piece in a kit that was all worked out would fit the bill. Or a dimensioned drawing?
