Default solo seat with springs question

Hi, new here, just joined today.
I currently have a Sportster but ultimately I want to get a softail & make it into a bobber styled bike.
My question is about the solo seat bracket kits that are sold on ebay & elsewhere, with the rear crossbar & front T bracket. (see pic).
I would like to know where on the bike these mount to?
Does anyone have a pic of their 84-99 softail with the seat removed, so I can see where the mounting points would be?
Has anyone fitted these before?
If so, were they any good, & what sort of seat did you use?
Thanks

They look like they are generic mounting brackets. I would get the seat you want to use look at the placement of the front mount based on were the seat looks best. Then drill the frame and mount the front of the seat that will place the rear mount in the location that it needs to be drilled and mounted.

Have the seat and the springs there so you get it right the first time. You will have to make something to cover the frame and battery under the seat. These parts are usually welded in place on mock up. Good luck on your project.

Thanks for the reply MCSarge.
The kit is advertised as bolt on for 84-99 softails, no welding needed. Sold via JP cycles, Justified Defiance, endofthelinecs etc etc.
Thought someone here might've used it.

Bump just bob out the sport and get a real rigid bro. Plus most those spring style seats require some welding bro.

Hey bud,

Not sure about 84-99 bikes but I have a 2008 Crossbones and I can see how these might work on my bike...or at least the how the larger bracket would fit. Underneath the seat and between the battery and the rear fender there are usually two holes. Those holes would line up with the two holes you see on that bigger bracket. You would just use to small bolts to bolt that down. I would have to look at the front part of my seat set up to understand how that part in the picture works. If I can I will get a photo to see if we can make sense of it.
