Found an old horn cover with a cracked mounting bracket that I cut off then drilled mounting holes thru the center so that the coil mounting bolts go thru the horn cover. I mounted a twin cam point cover on to the horn cover to hide the bolt heads. I also painted it with wrinkle paint
I would like to see a section of your front fender cut out and welded back together to fit the front tire size a little better. Looks like it is for a larger diameter tire and wheel. But the bike is looking cool and keep us updated with the new pictures as you work on it.
I'll take some pic's when the weather allows it, I had to cut and weld some new sheeting to get the fender between the forks, indeed.
I bought some 8" Z-bars from kijiji (Canadian Craigslist..) for $25, they were raw and a bit dinged up, I smothed them out with a little body filler and started painting. 2 coats of Primer, 6 coats of paint, 2 coats clear and a heck of a lot of wet sanding in between every coat.
I used Rattle cans of Rustoleum camo black from Home Depot and a Krylon Matte UV resistant clear from Micheal's and the colour came out a very close match to the Denim black.
But when I mounted the bars the paint started flaking off. My guess is it was either the shitty primer I used (an old can I had kicking around for a couple of years) or it was too cold when I was painting (10 degC). Either way I was pissed and I did not want to go through the painting process again, so....
I went to the local hardware store and got $5 worth of black hockey tape and wrapped my bars, matches my exhaust and looks pretty awesome.
All in all cost me about $60, $25 for the bars, $15 for the paint, $5 for the Hockey Tape and $15 for some butt connectors and shrink tubing to stretch out my wires for running internally. Would have been $45 if I had just thought to wrap the bars from the start.
PS Can anybody tell me how I can post photos directly into my post instead of these thumbnails at the bottom? And how I can post more than 5 photos at a time?
