Hello lads! here goes. I got my nightster wich i just luv so much aye. And now ive tried some different kind of bars and just cant find the right ones for me. I had 12/14 and now 16 ape hangers. I like the 16 apes but there is this "but". When riding innerstate or getting into higher speeds with my friends i get a really hard time with those apes. They are good for cruising but not the haul or innerstate. I kinda ride everyday to work in summer and also ride almost everyday when the weather lets me . So i really want those bars that has the comfort+looks for the riding style im a after. Both cruising around and hauling. I got forward controlls atm also if that matters. I like the look of drag bars but no idea if comfort is there. I will have to swap all cables for new bars so i just wanna get the bars and stick with it. Anyone got any ideas ? im 5"8 tall(short)(173cm). Sportsters rules ! /Tobias
Drag bars were not for me. I'm 6' tall so that's probably why. I felt I had to lean over too much.
I've gone from 0" rise drags all the way up to 12" apes and if I changed anything id go higher not lower. BUT that's my opinion.
Check out Zombie Performance.
They make a lot of sick handlebars that are unlike most anything Harley would ever make. They are gonna give you bars no one else has and a unique style / riding position.
I have Licks Z Bars and are really comfortable and I'm still running mid controls. I had broomstick bars on my last Nightster and did enjoy those as well but I think the Z bars would be better for longer trips even though they don't visually look like they would. I'm 5'8 for reference.
Im 5'9 and running 12 inch bars right now. I would say go with 10 or maybe even an 8 inch rise. If you go with 8, you shouldnt need to change any cables and if you go with 10 you can probably get by without changing any as well with a little creativity. That should put you in a pretty good upright and relaxed position with your forwards. i cant say much for drag bars, but I didnt like the stock bars because of the amount I had to lean forward, so I figure the drag bars would be worse.
thanks alot guys for great fast feedback on this conctern of mine. I think that licks are the ones, they got a good look for my nightster and also different heights on them. Ive seen this guy on youtube with the Licks Z bars and it looks great. Havent decided yet on wich ones i want...6,8 or even 10 ... Im gonna ride long trips/short trips and also haul on innerstate some. ill just have to think about it, and ive asked the guy on the tube also wich ones he is running. When i get his reply then i might order my bars ! Thanks again guys /Happy biker
I would recommend 8" or 10" Z bars. I ran 10" Z bars from Jammer before I went with 14" apes (and 1" risers) on my 48 and those were great.
Considering your height (I'm 5'11" or 181cm) I think what you're looking for is the 8" rise.
FYI Lick's and Jammer have about the same measurements.
Lycka till! harleybutiken.se säljer Jammer
PS. Skit i kvastskaft och dragbars, det kommer mörda din rygg!
