Hey all recently upgraded to a dyna and I'm loving it! Anyways I'm looking for a new set of bars. My question is what kind of bars do you recommend for semi aggressive, long distance riding. On my super glide has a wide glide triple trees so I'm worried that if I go with t bars/ tall riser- low rise drag bars might look goofy without a quarter fairing. If I go with z bars/ apes I wont need to relocate the clamp mounted speedo. Is there any benefits to running T bars over apes/ z bars with similar rise/ pull back/ and width? I'm really digging the club style bikes so the H-D quarter fairing is an almost must but they look a little odd with apes but then again I'm running forward controls so it might not fit the bill for typical club bike. Oddly enough I feel like i can ride more aggressive, nimble, corner faster with forwards vs mids.
On a side note, does the H-D quarter fairing block highway winds enough to make a difference or is it mostly looks in your experience?
Thanks fellas
Funny I was looking at that style bars! They look killer on your bike, I like them a lot. Im 510 with some decent reach Im thinking of staying in the 8-12 range with whatever bars I go with. Keep the pictures rolling of your bars!
I used my stock risers and it sits perfect, technically I'm 5,11 3/4" lol but I bet you'd be comfortable with 12 or even 14" I ended up not being able to find 14" in a style I liked so decided to risk it and try them. I'm an inch over shoulder height as is. Plus I only paid $102 from ebay so I feel the price was worth the risk, way better than the beach bars that were on it.
I ran true paughco zbars on my superglide for years. Ive never seen another set on the road. Mainly because if you hit something head on the zbars are known as collar bone breakers.... yeah guess how many times i heard that? Anyway they look cool as hell. Just make sure the width matches the width of your triple trees otherwise they look kinda silly.
edit: zbars handle pretty dam awesome. The bike may feel heavier i slow speed stuff but in the twistys its tight as hell and kinda reminds me of a sport bi,es clip ons but higher. I kinda miss how tivgt the handling was compared to by biltwell chumps.
