Default High heels vs exhaust

Hey!

I'm planning to buy a Iron this summer and have a few questions I hope you guys can help me with.

1. My wife will be riding a lot with me and she loves to wear high heels. My question is: will her high heels just melt on my exhaust pipes? I'm planning on buying Vance and Hines big radius 2 into 2, and even with those, the passenger foot pegs are really close to the exhaust pipe. Maybe Wrapping the pipes would help?

2. I've seen alot of people complaining about the stock stocks and I guess since we will be riding 2 persons it will even be worse. What setup would you guys recommend? Our riding weight together is 140Kg. For better comfort we are considering mustang seats.

I had more question going around in my head yesterday, but I don't remember them hehe. I will most likely come with more questions, when they come back.

Safe riding from Turkey

Do you currently ride 2up on something else? Far be it for me to tell someone else how to ride, but heels on a bike sounds like a bad decision. Even an awkward step down off the bike could result in a broken ankle, any type of actual spill would be very bad. Sorry, not an actual answer to your question...

Taking the risk to sound absolutely uncool, I'd clearly say No, Nope, Nada, Niente!

On the bike, it's all about protective footwear - and if she still asks why, it's because you love her.

That simple, but just my 0.02

Off course for long rides she will not be using high heels, but if we are cruising down to centrum for some shopping.

Now that you have been lectured about your footwear selection , I will provide my OPINION on the Vance and Hines BR 2-2. I have these pipes on my bike and I love them, they do get pretty damn hot however and the curve of the pipe is near the passengers foot so if you are going to ride 2 up frequently, you might want to think about 1) different footwear or 2) longer pipes. Again, this is only my opinion. Good luck.

I'm always amazed when I see a couple on a motorcycle and the dude simply does not have enough sense to insist that his lady is wearing protective gear and clothing or she doesn't ride on the bike. You'll see the rider in leather and the passenger in shorts and high heals.

If you need to ask I'm not sure you will understand the answer.

haha, i agree with Uncle Larry!

just get a swing arm bag and have her keep the heels in there and she can change shoes when you get to your destination. It'll be a lot cheaper than replacing her melted ones.

Cool

Vanity is a wonderful thing - in it's place! Your local Harley dealer will happily sell your wife a pair of high-heeled bike boots, which should answer every point made - durable for riding, high healed for the fashion-conscious lady!

The most common injury for motorcycle riders is injury to the legs/ankles/feet ("lower-extremity injuries"). I wouldn't let anyone on the back of my bike without proper over-the-ankle boots no matter how short the ride was going to be.

If you don't have prior experience riding two-up, I'd avoid it completely for at least the first two years of riding.
