Default fork-lock trouble

My built in fork lock on my '05 sportster 1200c locked up on me while in the unlocked position. Has anyone else had this happen or hear of this happening? Be aware that it has happened, & keep safe.

Yes, after my routine inspections, riding it out of the garage (where I don't even use the lock) (a left, right, left) & another left, & a few houses down. As banged up as we got, I'm thankful I hadn't made another turn, as I would've been movin.

Thanks, I'm having the lock mechanism taken out, while the bike's being repaired. Maybe going to lower the seat & put a wider tire on front while I'm down. I sure hope it never happens to anyone else.

me too & thanks. That's what I tried to tell HD & the shop where I first brought it in to be repaired. It's not just about me getting hurt, being without my bike for along time already, it's about people being aware that it can happen. I got lucky. It's one of the reasons I found this forum, I was looking to see if it's happened to anyone & also to warn that it has happened & we already needs eyes in the back of our heads to keep safe, without having to worry about something like that happening. In the mean time I'm really glad for this forum, as it's fun & really educational! Thanks to all!
