Default a few random problems

hey guys,

my bikes been having a few issues as of late. today it started pulling as soon as I let the clutch out, and I don't even have to give it gas to take off (it won't stall out). I'm sure that's a simple clutch adjustment will do the trick.

but earlier when I started it it was.blowing black smoke when I revved it, an randomly shut off. it took a few tries to get it to turn back on, but once I got it started it ran fine.

once I got it out on the road, I noticed sometimes when I am coming to a stop (while on the brakes) in first gear only, the bottom of the bike feels like it is shaking like hell down near the motor. also once when I downshifted today the gears grinded like hell and it felt weird shifting into first.

recently I had a problem with it idling high once I road it about 50 miles that day. it would idle high until I came to a complete stop for about 3 seconds. I cleaned the IAC like someone mentioned but haven't had the chance to ride it enough to see if the problem is still occurring.

I checked the codes for the first time ever today and got p1004 and p505 but once I cleared them they didn't come back.

I know this is all random but if anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate feedback.

thank you

Labrador,
Same thing was happening to the wife’s 2012 Softail Deluxe, pull the clutch in coming to a stop and the engine cuts out. Long story short it was the “neutral safety switch” located in the left handlebar switch pack. I noticed her bike wouldn’t start in gear also. Replaced micro switch and it solved both problems. The switch going bad is a known problem. Good luck.

Get your clutch adjusted and see what issues you have after that, I think thats alot of your problems.

What year and details of your bike?

Black smoke usually indicates running rich.

Aye.

Sounds like a Higher Idle on the screw.

Or a stuck choke.

Don't seem to clutchy at all.
