Yesterday I was riding my 07 883 that I have had for 3 weeks and noticed the neutral light was not coming on anymore more. It would go into neutral, just no light. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if I should be worried. Of course it's still under warrenty but I just wanted to know if there were more with problems? Thanks.
Not sure on the sportsters, but on the Dyna, the plugs connecting the wires to the neutral switch can get knocked off easily when cleaning the bike. I pinched the connectors a little tighter and reconnected them so they stay on more securely.
I had that problem this morning,I was backing my Nightster out of the garage and noticed the neutral light wasn't on. I kicked it down into first and then back up into neutral and it stayed on. I'll be keeping my eye on it to see if it happens again.
It quite likely is just the bulb in the indicator light. I know they made some changes there in 07, but my 06 had 3 of those little bulbs burn out within the first few hundred miles. Hasn't been a problem since then.
As I think about it, are the 07's still little bulbs, or did they upgrade that to more of an LED type light?

I had the same problem on my Softail. I, too, pinched the connectors a bit and haven't had the problem resurface.
My problem is the other way around... My light will come after some time and only go off in 1st it stays on through the rest of the gears... been doing that for about 12k miles...
The contact point for the neutral light to come on is very slim. It takes some time to get used to it. You have only had the bike for a short time. Perhaps a little more time is needed to get used to its position and feel.
