Default Forward Control Shifter Linkage?

Where do you guys have your shifter linkage adjusted far as toe height on forward controls?

I’ve got forward controls on my 1200C and have been sort of struggling with the “gap adjustment” of the shifter linkage. Should it be adjusted so your foot/boot can sit on the left riders peg and fit with some space so you are not putting upward pressure on the up shift? This way you can ride with your boot on the peg and just click up? OR should be adjust so you can easily just swing your foot into this space for up shifts WHILE not having your boot resting in between the rider’s footrest peg and the linkage while riding?

Sounds silly but I have heel/toe shifter linkage on my UC and never have this worry. Seems like it should make sense on the Sporty but I just can’t get a natural feel. Just wondering what you all do for this adjustment.

Currently I have it so my boot is in-between with some slack so I don’t have any upward pressure on the linkage when the boot is on the riders peg. Up shifts are ok. BUT for down shifts it seems like I either have to raise my foot off the peg to click down or really wrench my ankle to try and down shift with boot still on the peg. The right side brake feels perfect but of course you can’t have your foot between the brake and right riders peg.

Any suggestions???

THANKS!

I have my shifter adjusted even with the sole of my boot. Downshift, just raise your toe a bit and shifter access is easy. Up shift just lower your toe and slide under. I always splay my foot out away from shifter on the peg. Just a quirk of forwards I think.
