simple exhaust/muffler question

Default simple exhaust/muffler question
I have a 2014 sportster and I see many sets of pipes for sale that say 2004-2013.
What is it that has been changed that is so different?

The engines of Sporties built up to 2003 were solid mounted in the frame, from 2004 they are rubber-mounted. So the entire exhaust of the later bikes is carried on the engine unit, so it can move with it as it vibrates in the rubber mounts. On earlier bikes the exhaust could be supported at the rear from somewhere on the frame. Does that answer your query?

well that would mean the 2013 slip on should fit a 2014 then, doesn't it?

Mounting is slightly different after 2013 , the rear master cylinder position has changed.
2014 and 2015 are different from all previous muffler mounting styles.

The crossover port on 2014 and up have been moved to the header.
2013 and older are located on the muffler. Also the 02 sensor is a different size.

There's a whole lot of accessories that are affected with the 2014 models. It's gonna take time before all the vendors can catch up and make parts for our bikes.
