Damn. That sucks. At least it sounds like you should be covered on the witness and insurance side of things.
Was the dude drunk? Texting? Or both?
Just curious about your footwear, not going to judge no matter what you were wearing I just want to know for my own information.
No problem man. I already judged myself in my op. The only time I wasn't wearing my HD boots. Just chuck taylors.
Tell y'all what, this insurance stuff still sucks. Looks so far that possibly I can fix this thing up without a salvage title. got permission to cut the back fender off now. That will give me a good look. Already know I need a lot of small stuff that is just hard to get it seems. Rear fender not too bad. See them on ebay. That dang laced wheel is just hard to find in stock. Looked every where and no joy.

.
I see it in the first post now...duh. Sorry.
Man I think it sounds like a good time to really go for broke on customizing it. Don't stop at the fender, its never going to be original again so go for it.

No problem man! And you are welcome to badger! I'll tell ya, converse tennis shoes will offer no protection at all when a 500 lb bike lands on you sideways. My HD boots would have helped I am sure.
Yea, this is the toughest call of all for me, because I finally got this old school bike exactly where I wanted it. I am a chrome *****, and I don't think there was another single part I could have put on it with the exception of the oil tank, and funny enough, I love that black. It will very likely look exactly like this (minus the dents lol) when I am done if I can get all the parts.
Ha! My three Son's thought the same thing too when my wife emailed them a pic. I hadn't thought of it but it does look like I lost all my blood. No, just the remains of my tail light, but that did cut me up pretty good.
I am sure as I get older, (if thats possible) the story will grow!
Glad to hear you're not too banged up... this sucks. I like your bike, hope you can bring it back to where it was. Ride safe!
Thanks all! Yep, I can walk today, not too bad with this dang boot on my foot.
I do want to bring it back to what I had. I know I have some rear frame damage, but working metal all my life, it don't look too bent. Possibly need a new swing arm. Well that's another dang piece of Chrome I can put on!
Heres a shot just 10 minutes before she was ground down on the cement. As usual, I like to just put around on a lazy day and take shots of my bike. It's what old people do!
Was the guy texting? It's getting to be an epidemic. People are addicted to their stupid cellphones. I think it should be treated like drunk driving and actually ENFORCED by the cops. Lady hit me last summer while texting...I was gonna shove it up her *** until someone held me back.
Man, sorry about your bike, but as others have said, glad you came out in one piece (more or less). I know how you feel...I was hit from behind similarly last fall.
