Has anybody had any issues with putting a tuner on their bikes and voiding the warranty. I have a 2014 fourtyeighty we built custom exhaust for it I got an air cleaner and a fuel moto micro tuner but I just "found out" today that all this can void my warranty. Does this hold any truth? I'm also curious cause I'm having a lot of sputtering issues when I take off and I'm cruising around 2000-2500rpms. And my case has been making a new sound that is really weird when I'm riding like my gears have rocks in them while I'm riding. Anything can help.
Far as I know they would have to attribute a problem to you work to not cover that problem under the warranty.
I think your real problem is cruising at 2000 rpm. You're doing it wrong. Sportys are built to cruise over 3000. Your engine is going to be clunky at that low of an RPM.
If you have any issue put it back to stock when you take it in for warranty work. Sounds like you just have a bad tune. With a totally custom exhaust you might need something better than the micro tuner. Do you have any back pressure in your exhaust like a baffle or torque inserts?
Your custom exhaust will be an unknown, so it is unlikely anyone can give you guidance on a setting for your tuner that will work with it. You have some work to do, to get your poor bike set up correctly, to run right! That may involve using a local tuning shop and changing to a more suitable tuning device.
We don't know what your new exhaust is, so can't comment very easily. Obviously there are many members using aftermarket systems/mufflers with ditto air filters which have been tuned to run right (I assume!).
