I think in your case, the Rush was a bad idea. I'd sell those suckers on ebay and get the V&H's. Just my opinion. If I hadn't already purchased some new ones, I would have bought them from you bro.

I thought Rush had several different diameter baffles to choose from. Can't you go down a size? Or are you already at the smallest? They also sell the fiberglass mat they use in their baffles and you can add a layer of that. Check with the dealer you bought them from.

Had SE 2 slip-ons.They sounded OK.Not too loud but I wanted a little more bark.I went with the V+H Straightshots and got rid of the crossover tube.I wasn't looking for performance so much.I think they sound awesome. And what self respecting Harley owner want a carbon fiber fart can on thier bike?

Being an old guy and technician. Never ever modify a air flow design with a restriction. Buy the right part or leave it alone.

There are different sized baffles for those pipes. I've got the 2" baffle. Sounds fine to me.. Which size do you have? Perhaps the smaller 1.5" would be better..

If you take a 1 5/8 hole saw an cut the baffels out of your stock mufflers ( remove the weld from the outlet end of the pipe all around the inside diamater You will have a low nice sound and the pipe has NO restrictions

If I wanted louder pipes I'd probably look at the V&H's - someone had another post here with a link to some nice ones from Eastern Performance for under $200.00.

Loud pipes are going to ruin it for the rest of us. Congrats on wanting a quieter bike. Every time I hear a Harley (or an import bike or car, for that matter) from a mile away, I think "what a self-indulgent jerk". I know I'm not alone in this feeling, because I'm getting phone calls. In my area, we are starting to see (and craft) noise ordinances which deal with "Jake Brakes". Bikes with loud exhaustWILL NOTbe far behind.
Don't believe me..? Keep revving those "life savers" (while you wear no helmet!?!?) and see what happens. I'm on a city council, so I know what happens.[&o]

Some City Council idiots in a town not far from here decided to try the same thing, and it turned around and bit them...

They came up with a Noise Ordinance that would put a person in violation ifa DB level was over a certain number at a certain distance.

I'm sure the Ordinance was aimed at bikers, as the state I'm in has no Statues dealing with mufflers or DB limits on bikes, cars, or trucks.

Quite a bit of taxpayers money was spent of certified testing equipment for the police department and whatever else was needed to enforce the new Ordinance.

What the 'wise council members' failed to realize is that a City Ordinance dealing with noise limits applies to any generated noise that is higher than the maximum allowed limit.

For every bike complaint there were probably 20 complaints dealing with noise generated by cars, trucks, chain saws, lawn mowers, 'boom boxes', etc...

Last I heard the Municipal Judge was throwing out 99% of the cases involving city noise ordinance violations.
