I put Rush slip-ons on the bike a few weeks ago and they are just a touch to loud. Is there anything I can put in the muffler to quiet it down (between the baffle and inside of the muffler)?
Man, those rush pipes are pretty loud, a friend of mine came visit me today with his 07 Softail custom, it is damn loud even at idle, I like it a lot though. Neighbor complaint?
I bought some to wrap the baffles on my Rinehart slip ons. They are ridiculously loud from the manufacturer. Even after the wrap they are too loud, for me anyway. I want a nice sounding muffler, not just noise. Under hard acceleration and at high speed they are not too bad, but at slower speeds and partial throttle they just pop-pop-pop, blap-blap-blap from the sound/pressure waves. There was a noticable drop in low end torque as well. Even if they make a few more hp at the top, it's not worth the sacrifice. I put the stock muffler back on for now until I decide what I want to do next. I may just sell the Rineharts. Coming from sportbikes I am real dissapointed in the Harley aftermarket parts. There is absolutely zero, nadda, zilch, no technology to speak of and that's why the exhausts are relatively cheap, compared to sportbike exhausts. No carbon, no titanium, just plain old steel. Just straight, roundpipes, with roundtube-style baffles within the pipes. All the exhaust manufacturers just seem to focus on is the "slight" increase in top end power. I don't see anyone out drag racing or road racing their Harley crusiers, so what's the point?

Not yet, they seem to be getting louder and louder the more miles I put on them. Kristin's 1200 Custom has drag pipes and the Rush slip-ons are a few DB's higher then them.
